Welcome To Lydia's Loft

A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.

Acts 16:14

About Us

Our History

Lydia’s Loft opened its doors to clients for the very first time on February 10, 2004. We are a community service organization providing clothing and small household items free of charge to those in need. Our clients reside primarily in northern Mecklenburg and southern Iredell county. Under the guidance, general oversight and hospitality of the First Baptist Church of Huntersville, Lydia’s Loft operates out of a brick home on Old Statesville Road on the First Baptist Church campus. The day-to-day operations are managed by an advisory board made up of team and special project leaders.

Lydia's Loft originally began as an ecumenical ministry among local churches, but today is staffed entirely by volunteers from all over the greater Lake Norman area. We exist because of the kindness and generosity of many individuals, groups, houses of faith, and corporate organizations.

Our Mission

Our Mission is quite simple - to provide clothing to those in need. Lydia's Loft is the “perfect recycling center”. We have many people in our area that wish to donate their unneeded clothing items. There are also many members of our community that cannot afford to purchase what is needed for themselves and their families. Here, we are putting the two together. In this way many benefit. Our volunteers gain much in return for the time spent at ‘The Loft”. Our clients are thrilled to have a warm jacket or a new pair of shoes. Our donors enjoy knowing that their donated items will go to good use!
